Elephant, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest and giraffe often gather on open grasslands and seasonal pans.

MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK
Mikumi’s landscape blends broad floodplain grasslands with acacia savannah, river loops, seasonal pans and pockets of woodland. These habitats focus wildlife around water in the dry season and spread herds across the plains when rains return.
The open Mkata floodplain offers long views and reliable game drives, while riverine belts and pools support hippos, crocodiles and prolific birdlife. Easy access and classic scenery make Mikumi an ideal first safari—without losing its wild character.
